Acharya J. C. Bose Hall of Residence was established in 1962. This Hall was named after Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, a polymath, a physicist, biologist, botanist, archaeologist, and writer of science fiction. He pioneered the investigation of radio and microwave optics, made very significant contributions to plant science, and laid the foundations of experimental science in the Indian sub-continent. He was the first from the Indian Sub-continent to be granted an US patent, in 1904. He is known for his research of remote wireless signaling and the use of semiconductor junctions to detect radio signals for the first time.
Much alike the enthusiasm with which Acharya J C Bose lived his life, JCBians are known for their colourful and vibrant life in the campus. The hall provides all basic the student amenities, as well as a clean environment, delicous food, a good library, and a gang of lifetime friends. Everyday, boarders indulge in recreational activities like TV watching, music, sports like volleyball, football, table tennis and others. Our football team is known to create ripples in the nerves of opponents every time they take the field. JCBians have also impressed everyone with their creativity in Illumination and Rangoli, two events considered the pride of KGP populace. With time it has come to be an abode for postgraduate students and research scholars who get the opportunity to carry forward the scientific legacy of Archarya J.C. Bose.
Various secretaries viz. maintenence, scocial cultural, sports, mess and literary in conjunction with the hall president ensure adequate realisation of ambitions vowed to take care of the requirements of every student. We all take pleasure in welcoming you to become a true JCBian.
